# Restricted countries and nationalities

> Find out whether you can use Roxom based on your nationality or country of residence.

To comply with applicable laws and regulations, Roxom applies **two different types of restrictions**:

1. **Restrictions based on your country of residence (where you live)**
2. **Restrictions based on your nationality or passport (citizenship)**

These are evaluated separately during verification (KYC).

  **Important distinction**

  * If a country is restricted **by residence**, you can't use Roxom **only if you currently live there**.
  * If a country is restricted **by nationality**, you can't use Roxom **regardless of where you live**.

  Being born in a restricted country does **not** automatically make you ineligible.

## How eligibility is determined

Eligibility is determined during verification (KYC) based on:

* **Your verified country of residence**
* **Your nationality / passport**

Both are checked independently.

## Restricted countries by residence

If you **currently live** in any of the following countries, you won't be able to register or use Roxom.

However, **being born in one of these countries does not make you ineligible** if you now reside elsewhere and your nationality is not restricted.

* Central African Republic
* China
* Congo (Democratic Republic of the)
* Cuba
* Ethiopia
* Haiti
* Iran
* Iraq
* Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire)

* Nicaragua
* North Korea
* Russia
* Somalia
* South Sudan
* Sudan
* Syria
* Ukraine
* United States of America
* Venezuela
* Yemen
* Zimbabwe

## Restricted nationalities by passport or citizenship

If you **hold a passport or nationality** from any of the following countries, you are **not eligible** to register or use Roxom, **even if you live in a supported country**.

* Afghanistan
* Angola
* Belarus
* Central African Republic
* Congo (Democratic Republic of the)
* Cuba
* Ethiopia
* Haiti
* Iran
* Iraq
* Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire)
* Kenya
* Lebanon
* Libya
* Mali

* Russia
* Somalia

## Why are there restrictions?

Roxom complies with applicable sanctions, anti-money laundering (AML), and other regulatory requirements to maintain a secure and lawful trading environment.
